A man was alert! An 87-year-old man took 200,000 baht to ask the police what he did wrong to have them call him to bring the money for inspection, before finding out that he was scammed by a call center gang and almost lost the money.

Mr. Phimat or Lek, aged 87, traveled to meet Pol. Lt. Col. Thitipakorn Kumpa-in, the investigation officer at Nonthaburi City Police Station, with 200,000 baht in cash for the police to inspect. He asked what was wrong with his account and why he had to transfer money for the officers to inspect, even though he had never had an account involved in illegal activities. However, why did he have to call and ask him to transfer money for inspection?

Grandpa Lek revealed that before this, a man called him and said that his account was involved in a gray business. He had to send it to him for investigation. There will be officers from the Anti-Money Laundering Office, the Revenue Department, and the police to contact him and explain the regulations. If the money in the account is ve
rified correctly, he will return it and also pay for the lost time and compensation to Grandpa Lek. So he believed it completely and quickly took the 3-baht gold necklace and 2-baht bracelet to sell. He got 200,000 baht and will deposit it into the account of the call center gang as he recommended because he doesn’t use Line and doesn’t know how to transfer money into the account.

The person who pretended to be an officer told him how much he had in his assets to withdraw. If it was found to be honest money, he would return it later. Luckily, the officer advised him, otherwise, he would have lost 200,000 baht. When he came to the police station, he only thought that if he really did something wrong, he should go to jail because he didn’t do anything illegal. He wanted to take the money, so he brought his bankbook for the officer to examine and be done with it. Luckily, he found out the truth first. As for the 200,000 baht, he would go back to buy new gold and block the number of this call center gang.

Pol.
Lt. Col. Thitipakorn explained the reason and explained that Grandpa Lek was likely scammed by a call center gang. Do not believe him. Grandpa Lek came to see the police officer. It is considered lucky. If he transferred money, he will definitely lose the money. He advised Grandpa Lek to block this mobile phone number. Do not talk to or believe what they say. Otherwise, you will fall victim to the call center gang. Grandpa Lek was glad that he did not fall for the scammers yet. He raised his hands to thank the police officer who helped warn him.
