Director of informatics empowerment at the Communication and Information (Kominfo) Ministry, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto In a statement issued on Tuesday urged state civil apparatus (ASN) to improve their services to the public by strengthening digital literacy.
Earlier, the Kominfo Ministry and the Health Ministry had organized a Training of Trainers (ToT) on digital literacy for the Health Ministry’s ASN.
The activity aimed to provide knowledge of digital literacy to the ministry’s ASN so that they could become digital literacy trainers by 2023.
It was a part of efforts to improve digital literacy cognitively and practically among ASN to support the nation’s digital transformation.
In the National Digital Literacy Index survey in 2021, Indonesians scored 3.49 out of 5.00 in digital literacy, or were placed in the “medium” category.
The survey was undertaken by the Kominfo Ministry and Katadata Insight Center.
“The training is expected to provide knowledge and (build) skills in using digital technology, improve awareness about hardware and account security, and encourage ASN to know and adopt digital technology to improve service quality,” Pudjianto said.
Director of health manpower quality improvement at the Health Ministry, Doddy Izwardy, said that the public is expected to have a good communication literacy level.
This digital literacy can be realized through smart technology usage, in accordance with the applicable regulation and ethics.
“The goal is to improve the quality of accurate data-based health policies with efficient service at the level of puskesmas (public health centers), clinics, hospitals, laboratories, and pharmacies,” he said.
According to digital literacy practitioner Cahyo Edhi Widyatmoko, ASN must uphold ethics and assume full responsibility for data shared with the public.
“As ASN, we have to communicate information and data in an accurate manner to prevent misunderstanding on part of the general public,” he explained.
