Police request court to issue arrest warrants for 2 perpetrators who brandished M16 rifles and shot a young man from Phang Nga after he got on a tour bus to escape death and asked for help from the Sai Mai Must Survive page. They also asked the Ministry of Justice for protection of their safety, fearing that their children and wife would not be safe.

From the case of a 23-year-old man from Phang Nga, an employee of a hotel, who took a tour bus to escape death and asked for help from the Sai Mai Must Survive page after having to face an incident where an influential person in the Koh Yao Yai area, Phang Nga Province, used an M16 assault rifle to shoot at him in front of his room because of a physical altercation that occurred when the son of the other party rode his motorcycle over the lane and almost hit him on a curve, resulting in a warning. However, the father of the other party was not happy because it was like a slap in the face, so he went home to bring a assault rifle and a knife to attack the young
man from Phang Nga at his residence. The incident occurred on August 1st, and Mr. Ekkapop announced that if he could not press charges against anyone, he would put a barrel over their heads.

A young man from Phang Nga petitioned the Ministry of Justice for protection.

Mr. Ekkapop Lueangprasert, advisor to the Minister of the Interior and founder of the Sai Mai Must Survive page, coordinated with the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection, Ministry of Justice, to take the young man from Phang Nga to request witness protection. The victim provided information to officials according to procedure in order to receive protection from government officials. He stated that he felt unsafe and was worried about his children, wife, and family in Phang Nga because the other party threatened to kill him. The other party had also been charged with attempted murder because he had shot someone on the island. He also had a history of being released from prison, so he was afraid that his family would be harmed.

Therefore, he asked the province to consider putting the name of the other party on the list of influential people because he committed a heinous act in a tourist province. He also coordinated with the local police to inform them that today an arrest warrant will be issued for the perpetrator. After receiving information, he had already fled the area. It was also found that the perpetrator had just been released from prison. He believes that the authorities will be able to arrest the perpetrator quickly because there is clear evidence. If they ar
e not caught, he will go to the area to follow up on the case with the victim himself.

Progress on the case: Pol. Col. Somkane Phothisri, Commander of Phang Nga Provincial Police, revealed that the Phang Nga Provincial Court recently approved the arrest warrants for Mr. Phongsaphira or Oh, 46 years old, from Krabi, the first suspect, and Mr. Thanongsak or Jack, 36 years old, from Koh Yao District, Phang Nga Province, the second suspect, on several charges, such as ‘jointly attempting to physically or mentally harm another person, jointly breaking into another person’s home by using force or threatening to use force at night, while carrying a firearm by jointly committing an offense with at least two people, jointly possessing a firearm and ammunition without permission from the firearms registrar, jointly carrying a firearm in the city.’

In this case, the governor of Phang Nga Province has given importance to the incident that occurred, which affected the tourism atmosphere in the area. Therefore, he has or
dered the Koh Yao District Chief and the Koh Yao Police Station Superintendent to expedite the arrest of the perpetrators and bring them to justice as soon as possible.

While local sources provided additional information that Mr. Oh was originally from Chumphon and had been charged with murder in the Koh Yao Yai area several years ago, but fought the case until the court dismissed the case and came to live with a former police officer who had previously followed a former influential person in Koh Yao District and often socialized at Mr. Jack’s restaurant, which was near the hotel staff housing. Mr. Jack was originally from Phetchabun and had been trading in the area for several years.
