Anutin” went to the area to help victims of the high-speed rail tunnel collapse. It is expected that 3 victims were in the backhoe. A command center was set up to help until the situation is over.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul visited the area to provide assistance to victims of the high-speed rail tunnel collapse in Village 2, Ban Tha Hib, Tambon Chan Thuek, Amphoe Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, which is a construction project area at Khlong Khanan Chit Station, resulting in 3 victims at the scene.

Since the incident, Mr. Anutin has instructed Mr. Chaiwat Chuenkosum, Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, as Director of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of the Province, together with Mr. Khanatchon Sricharoen, District Chief of Pak Chong, as District Incident Commander (District Incident Command Center) to control and command the search and rescue mission by setting up an incident command center to help victims at the incident area to search and help victims
until the situation ends.

However, the vital signs are both normal and weak. We must hurry to get to them. We have heard that the victims are probably in a backhoe or dump truck because all three of them were trained to find shelter first in the event of an accident. We may think that there is not a lot of soil, but the amount of soil that has collapsed, the more we dig, the more the soil will collapse.

‘The ultimate goal of the operation is to rescue the lives of the three people as quickly as possible. The latest step is to send in a machine to scan their vital signs again. If you ask if it is dangerous, is it dangerous? Is there a lot of risk? Yes, because we are fighting against the pressure from the ground. As for the responsibility that the contractor has for the incident, it is fully responsible. The company that was hired to build the tunnel sent six Chinese engineers to join the government in the operation, and the contractor is also concerned about the safety of the officials,’ said Mr. Anutin.

M
r. Anutin said that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has a well-trained team, the USAR team, with various equipment. They confirmed that they did their best. The contractor used a small excavator to dig into the soil. From searching for the vital signs, they found them at the same spot as the metal. It is assumed that they were hidden by the vehicle. Hopefully, the distance is no more than 5 meters, so it will not take long and the people who go to help must not be in danger. Right now, all decision-makers are at the incident command center.
