“Angkana” confirms readiness to join hands with all parties to work on the Political Development Committee, preparing to continue the work of the old Senate. “Governor Pu” volunteers to heal the rifts so that all parties are united. She sees that all Senators have the right to sit on the committee according to their abilities. She asks not to be devalued.

Ms. Angkana Neelapaijit, a senator and chairwoman of the Committee on Political Development, Public Participation, Human Rights, Freedoms and Consumer Protection, revealed after being elected as chairwoman of the committee that in today’s election, there were two rounds of voting, with the results being the same before the draw. She raised her hands in a wai and thanked Mr. Wirasak Wichitsangsri, the candidate for the chairwoman of the committee. She confirmed that from now on, they will work together, and Mr. Wirasak has promised to support them. No matter who becomes the chairwoman of the committee, they will be no different. She believes that they can w
ork together to support and promote each other, and she thanked all the committee members.

As for starting work, we will have to look at what the previous Senate has done and whether there is any pending work. This committee is a combination of two committees, the Political Development Committee and the Human Rights Committee. After this, a subcommittee will be set up. Civil rights and political rights cannot be separated. The same goes for human rights. They are all the same thing, even though I personally think they should be separated.

In the case where the previous senators have been following up on the matter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s hospital stay on the 14th floor, will they continue to follow up on this matter? Ms. Angkana said that the work that the previous senators left unfinished and that the current senators have resolved to continue will be investigated.

While Mr. Wirasak talked about working together that he personally respects Ms. Angkana and is confident that the work w
ill be unified. He sees that everyone who comes to do this job must have unity and go in the same direction. There may be some conflicts, but in the end, it will be resolved in the meeting.

As for the observation that the establishment of the Senate Committee on the Blue Line has taken over almost all the committee chairmen, Mr. Wirasak declined to talk about it because it is considered the right of each committee. As for the list of committee members that many people think may have the wrong person and may not work effectively, Mr. Wirasak said that citizens’ rights must come first. Please don’t go with them because everyone has the right according to their interests. For example, he himself is on the Political Development Committee. He sees it as a basic right for senators to hold positions on the committee.

Mr. Wirasak also opened up about his participation in this committee, saying that he had already informed Ms. Angkana. He intended to come in to do his duty to erase the small flaws that existed and w
anted to make it one and create harmony. He did not know about competing for the position of chairman in advance because someone had nominated him. He was glad that Ms. Angkana had received the position and confirmed that they could work together.

Ms. Angkana added that they had talked before that no matter who was the chairman, they could work together and support each other. As for differences of opinion, it was normal, and the majority must be respected and the minority must not be ignored. She was ready to accept suggestions and concerns from all parties.
