Bangkok, Angkana points out that no one has confirmed the three leading names of the blue-shirt senators competing for the Senate president, saying that it is a pity that there are only old civil servants, no ordinary people or women. She believes that even if they propose competing names, it will not create conflict.

Senator Angkhana Neelapaijit gave an interview after the list of candidates from the Blue Senator Group who will compete for the positions of the Senate Speaker and Senate Vice President was revealed. Will the New Generation Senator Group change the list of candidates again? She said no changes.

Regarding the rumor that the New Generation Senators group would propose Mr. Boonsong Noisophon, Senator, as the second Vice President of the Senate before changing the name, Ms. Angkana stated that as someone who has been involved in this group all along, she personally has never heard that Mr. Boonsong would be nominated. It may be the personal opinion of each person, which must be respected. Howeve
r, if it is a discussion in the name of the group, there has never been an agreement or opinion that we will propose Mr. Boonsong because she personally does not know Mr. Boonsong and has never talked to him. Mr. Boonsong himself has previously stated that he does not work with the New Generation group.

As for the three names that do not include women, will this close off opportunities? Ms. Angkana sees that she has seen several media outlets citing sources for the three names that have been talked about, but none of the three have come out to confirm that they have been nominated. Therefore, whether these names are true or not, whether they are confirmed or not, no one can answer that.

However, in my personal opinion, the three names mentioned above are all retired civil servants. If we look back to the beginning of the selection of the senators, there were criticisms and opinions about their qualifications, age, education, and many people said that this group of senators is diverse and gives an opportunit
y to ordinary people who do not necessarily have much knowledge to perform their duties. But when it comes down to it, if it is as stated on the list, it is a pity that we do not have those ordinary people and no women to become leaders of the legislative branch.

As for how the chances of receiving the position have been assessed, Ms. Angkana said that there has been no assessment. However, as we are independent and come from the people, we think that we should offer ourselves and announce to the people that we are ready to come in and work. We would also like the group that has been assessed as the majority to come out and confirm that they have been nominated, introduce themselves, or say what they will do, because it is rare to hear those who have received high scores come out and express their opinions.

In the case of several groups of senators nominating each other to compete, will it become a conflict? Ms. Angkana said, ‘Not at all.’ Because if we look at the election, everyone in the field did their
best. But in the end, even if we were not elected or not trusted, we had to come back to work together. She did not think at all that it was a competition for leadership or that it would create conflict. Personally, even if we were not elected, we would still work to the best of our ability.

For the vision that will be presented, Ms. Angkana revealed that it should be a guideline that she sees that she can develop the performance of the Senate to be more acceptable and work together with the people. In the past, since the coup, all senators have been appointed. Whenever there is a vote on something, it is usually a vote that goes against the feelings or opinions of the people.

At this time, even though I may not dare to say with full confidence that we come from the people because not all the people chose us, at least we are ordinary people who volunteered, and we would like to see the performance of the Senate that is more progressive and connected to the people.
