Acting Police Commissioner holds meeting to expedite gold fraud case

Acting Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police held a meeting to expedite the gold scam case, stressing decisive action and ordering an investigation into the direct sales business that was in the news, and opening a hotline 1599 to receive information.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, acting national police chief, chaired a meeting to follow up on the progress of important cases, the K2N gold shop (Tak-Beer) and Thada Gold Shop (Bainad), which were attended by Pol. Lt. Gen. Akkharadech Pimolsri, assistant national police chief; Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapol Prembut, commissioner of the National Police Office; Pol. Lt. Gen. Nitithorn Chintanakan, commissioner of the National Police Office; Pol. Maj. Gen. Jirawat Payungtham, deputy commissioner of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD); Pol. Maj. Gen. Sophon Saraphat, deputy commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau; and Pol. Maj. Gen. Witthaya Sriprasertphap, commander of the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPD), along with relevant officers.

As the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) has prosecuted Ms. Korkanok or Tak and Mr. Kantpol or Beer and their associates on charges of fraud and related offenses by deceiving people into buying gold jewelry through live streaming on social media, and the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) has prosecuted Mr. Phromthada or Bai Naat in the case of live streaming on social media to deceive people into buying cheap gold jewelry, but the buyers did not receive the products or received them differently than advertised, with celebrities and famous people participating in the advertising of the products, and the case of news in the media and social media regarding the direct sales operations of The Icon Group, which is managed by Mr. Waratpol or Paul.

In order for the prosecution to proceed smoothly, quickly, in time and in accordance with the law, as well as to set guidelines for cases where fraud is found to be committed through social media, and to resolve the problems of the public as quickly a
s possible, the Acting Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police has assigned Pol. Lt. Gen. Akkaradech Pimolsri, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, to oversee and order incident management and investigation to facilitate the public who have been damaged or may be damaged to be able to file complaints or give statements to the police conveniently, quickly and in time, including considering the selection of investigators with knowledge, expertise and experience to join the investigation working group to prosecute the aforementioned case.

Assign the Technology Crime Suppression Division and the Central Investigation Division (CSD) to determine the investigation topics so that the investigators who receive the report can investigate directly to the issues and elements of the offense and expedite the investigation of the cases under their responsibility to be completed as soon as possible. All charges must be prosecuted against all offenders or related persons. In addition, the Metropoli
tan Police Bureau, Region 1-9, order the investigators under their supervision to support the investigation work of the working group and support the work of the Technology Crime Suppression Division and the Central Investigation Division as requested.

Assign the Office of Police Strategy (OPS) to collect statistical data on the case in important matters, such as the number of suspects, victims, damages, evidence, or assets seized or impounded for investigation under the Anti-Money Laundering Act from relevant agencies, in order to analyze and determine measures or guidelines for overall crime prevention and suppression of the Royal Thai Police. The Office of Legal Affairs and Litigation (OLM) is also assigned to collect all relevant allegations and laws to support the operations of the Technology Crime Suppression Division, the Central Investigation Bureau, and the working group, as well as to support any other actions as requested.

In addition, the Police Operations Center should open a hotline of 1599 to
be a center for reporting incidents to victims and forward case information to the responsible agencies for further investigation as soon as possible, as well as receive information or clues from the public regarding such wrongdoings.
