A Kathin merit-making tour bus had brake failure and crashed into several cars on Mittraphap Road heading into Bangkok. Dozens of people were injured and rescue workers rushed the injured to the hospital.

A tour bus with brake failure crashed into the back of 4 cars on Mittraphap Road, inbound to Bangkok, on the Klang Dong downhill before crossing the bridge into Muak Lek District, Saraburi Province. The front left side of the car was badly damaged and there were many injured people in the car. Officials rushed 2 seriously injured women to Muak Lek Hospital, Saraburi Province, which was closest to the scene. The rest of the 38 people were sent to Pak Chong Nana Hospital. The other 16 were uninjured.

Asked Mr. Thanapon, age 68, the bus driver, he said that he drove to pick up the Kathin group on the return trip only because the bus that was taking the group there broke down. There were 56 passengers on the bus in total. After the Kathin offering was finished, they were taken back to Kanchanaburi Province. B
ut when they reached kilometer 53-54, the bus’s brakes failed and it swerved down the hill, crashing into the backs of several cars until it stopped at the back of a trailer truck carrying cement. Many passengers were injured.
