1 Oct 67 – at the activity area, Chalermprakiat Building, 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary, Sports Authority of Thailand, Bangkok – The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) held a press conference on the organization of events and activities on the occasion of “The 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the Sports Authority of Thailand”, with Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of SAT, along with Mr. Surasak Kerdjantuek, Deputy Governor of SAT for Sports Excellence and Sports Science, joining in the discussion on the important issues on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Sports Authority of Thailand and the vision for the development of the Sports Authority of Thailand into the 7th decade, including organizing various activities to celebrate this important occasion.
Dr. Kongsak revealed that the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) was established in 1964 to be the main organization to promote the country’s sports activities to continuously progress, as can be seen from the success of Thai national athletes in w
orld-class competitions such as the Asian Games, Olympic Games, and Paralympic Games. Since 2018 until now, SAT has been committed to developing sports for excellence through the implementation of 12 projects, such as the Smart National Sports Park project, establishing the largest and most modern national sports training center to support the training of athletes at the international level, the project to upgrade sports science and technology services by establishing a service center to develop sports science in all aspects, the project to promote and support the organization of sports competitions and sports activities for tourism, the project to establish a sports city, the project to develop athletes with disabilities systematically and comprehensively, the project to support and promote national identity sports and Thai traditional sports, and the project to promote sports activities in 5 southern border provinces.
In 2024, the SAT will celebrate its 60th anniversary and step into its 7th decade by oper
ating under the sports development plan to achieve international success and manage the organization with standards to create economic and social value for the country sustainably with 5 important missions: 1. Promote sports for excellence in a systematic and comprehensive manner, aiming to develop a new athlete recruitment system and build athlete potential with sports science and technology in line with the National Sports Training Center model. 2. Promote professional sports organizations and organize professional sports competitions systematically and with standards. 3. Create public awareness of exercising, playing sports, and participating in sports activities, promoting the province to become a sustainable sports city, including supporting the organization of sports activities and competitions for tourism. 4. Manage SAT assets to maximize benefits, and 5. Develop organizational management to meet standards with digital systems and innovations effectively and sustainably.
‘SAT is ready to move forward
to 2025 by focusing on developing the country’s sports in terms of excellence, career creation, sports industry, promotion of sports organizations and sports competitions at regional, national and international levels, such as the 49th National Games to be held in December 2024, the 39th National Games for the Disabled in January 2025, the 40th National Youth Games in March 2025, as well as preparing for Thailand to host the 33rd SEA Games in December 2025 and the 13th ASEAN Para Games to be held in January 2026, as well as raising public awareness of exercising, playing sports and participating in sports activities, as well as supporting the organization of sports activities and competitions linked to tourism to stimulate the country’s economy,’ said the SAT Governor.
Mr. Surasak added that on the occasion of the SAT’s 60th anniversary, there have been 3 activities to celebrate this important occasion: 1. The exhibition “6 Decades of the Sports Authority of Thailand, Endless Development”, which is an exhibi
tion of outstanding works and records important events of the SAT, divided into:
6 decades (2507-2567), starting from today until October 15, 2567 at the lobby area, 1st floor, Chalermprakiat Building, 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary, SAT Office, Huamark 2. The general public running competition “SAT Spirit ‘ONE’ Run Together 2024”, 6 kilometers distance, competing for a total prize money of 12,000 baht, will be held on October 12, 2567 at the Sports Authority of Thailand. The target is 1,000 participants. Interested persons can register to join the competition for free! Along with receiving a shirt and a commemorative medal from the competition, registration is open from today until October 10, 2567 at https://www.runlah.com/events/ssone and 3. The “SAT Spirit ‘ONE’ Fun Together” internal organizational sports competition to strengthen the relationship of SAT personnel. It will be held on October 17, 2567 at the Sports Authority of Thailand.
