2 students admitted to Thammasat Hospital, symptoms still worrying

‘Somsak’ reveals that the condition of the two students who were victims of the school bus accident, admitted to Thammasat University Hospital, is still concerning. He will send a team of psychiatrists to be with the children who witnessed the incident and their families.

Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, revealed that those who were injured and died in the incident of a fire on a school bus on a field trip from Uthai Thani, that those who were seriously injured are currently at the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health, 1 person with burns on their body of approximately 11%, and 2 people at Thammasat University Hospital, with the child at Thammasat Hospital having more serious symptoms, with 1 person with burns on their body of 13%, and another person with 20-30%. Currently, there is coordination with the Institute of Forensic Medicine that China will send snow lotus, registered in Thailand, to help with the treatment of burns.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health has dispat
ched a total of 71 psychiatrists and psychologists to assist the children and teachers who were involved in the incident, as well as their families and those involved in the incident.

There are currently 22 officers in Uthai Thani Province and 25 officers at the Police Hospital who will travel with the deceased to help and distribute them to the Uthai Thani area. The Ministry of Public Health will continue to provide assistance and advice, especially the mental health support team.

As for the injured in the ICU, the one in the Child Health Institute is now able to communicate. Yesterday, they were stressed, but today they are better. However, the one in Thammasat Hospital is still in serious condition because they have many wounds on their bodies and their vision is blurred because they were exposed to toxic substances and burns, which cannot be assessed yet.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and Acting Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, said that
the Institute of Forensic Medicine had completed the identification of all 22 bodies. Only the last one, whose mother wanted to come and prove it herself, had already been proven through her sister. It is expected that by 3:00 PM today, all identifications will be completed. After that, relevant agencies will be contacted to bring a motorcade to bring all the bodies back to their hometowns. As for the driver, he is currently being held at Khok Kut Police Station for further questioning. He turned himself in on the night of October 1 after sending officers to pressure him. However, all details must be investigated first. Meanwhile, the Forensic Science Institute is currently examining the vehicle involved in the accident. After this, standards and regulations will be set, including measures for vehicle inspections for the local administration, transport, private sector, and relevant agencies to ensure strictness.
