Super Poll reveals 51.7% of people trust ‘Prime Minister Paethongtarn’

Super Poll reveals the results of a survey on confidence in the new Prime Minister ‘Paetongtarn Shinawatra’, finding that more than half, 51.7%, are quite confident to the utmost, while 48.3% are somewhat confident to not confident at all, indicating that they want to quickly solve the problems of the economy, cost of living, call center gangs, and debt.

Super Poll Research Center presents the results of a survey on confidence in the new Prime Minister, a case study of samples of people in all professions nationwide. The project conducted both quantitative research and qualitative research, with a total of 1,054 samples for statistical analysis. The project was conducted between 16-17 August 2024. It was found that the majority, or 46.1 percent, agreed with the parliament supporting Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra as Prime Minister, while 26.4 percent disagreed and 27.5 percent had no opinion.

Interestingly, when asked about the public’s confidence in Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra as a new generation female prim
e minister who has successfully solved the people’s problems, it was found that more than half, or 51.7 percent, were quite confident to the highest level, while 48.3 percent were somewhat confident to not confident at all.

It is worth considering that when asked about the urgent problems that the public wants the government of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra to solve, it was found that the majority, or 74.5 percent, mentioned the economic problems, the cost of living, and the cost of living. Next, 46.5 percent mentioned the problems of call center gangs, fraudsters, and people who deceived the public. 42.1 percent mentioned the problems of debt in the system, banks, and financial institutions. 41.9 percent mentioned the problem of informal debt. 36.9 percent mentioned crime and the insecurity of people’s lives and property. 36.2 percent mentioned the problems of sources of funds for entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized investors. 34.4 percent mentioned the drug problem. And 12.0 percent mentioned other problem
s, such as corruption, waste pollution, and the environment, etc.

The Super Poll report stated that the results of this poll indicate that the public’s confidence in the new female prime minister, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, is interesting in many dimensions, both in terms of support and the perception of her ability to solve the country’s problems, which is a good indicator of the public’s confidence in the leader. The issues that the public wants the government to solve, especially economic problems, cost of living, and scams from call center gangs, show that the need for economic and financial security is still urgent and important to the daily lives of people in all professions.

The Super Poll report also indicated that the split in confidence was quite clear, with more than half believing in the new female prime minister’s ability to solve problems, while another group remained skeptical, perhaps reflecting the differences in expectations and diverse needs of the people in Thai society today. The development and response to this survey may include a number of recommendations that Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra and her team can consider to build trust and address the issues that people are currently facing, as follows:

1. Clear and straightforward communication. Communicating government policies and actions in a clear and understandable manner will help citizens better understand and increase their confidence in government, especially in areas where citizens are highly concerned, such as the economy and financial security.

2. Development and improvement of economic policies: The government should consider policies that provide urgent relief, such as price controls on basic goods and services, employment support, an
d financial assistance for low-income households.

3. Measures to suppress fraud and financial crimes. Stricter measures and strict law enforcement to prevent and suppress call center gangs and other economic crimes will help increase public safety.

4. Debt management Policies to help alleviate people’s debt problems both inside and outside the banking system may include the establishment of financial assistance centers, debt restructuring, and promotion of access to flexible and fair sources of funds.

5. Strengthening education and changing social culture. Investing in education and promoting a culture that emphasizes transparency and responsibility will help create a sustainable society and reduce corruption.

The continued use of survey and research data will enable the government to respond to the needs and expectations of the people effectively and in a timely manner, which will lead to increased confidence in the government of Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra and continued support for policies.
