Sisaket, Thrilling: Chasing and intercepting a suspicious pickup truck that broke through a checkpoint and escaped. Finally, he was cornered and opened the gas tank to try to explode in the car.

Radio Center 191 received a report from the highway police that a suspicious orange van with no license plate was found fleeing from Sompoi Intersection into the city of Sisaket and attempting to be rear-ended by a highway police vehicle.

The 191 Forensic Science Center coordinated with local police to intercept the suspicious vehicle, which drove into the Khukhan Intersection before heading towards Wang Hin District. It then drove back on the same route, circling the route twice. Officers tried to chase it until they were able to stop the vehicle in the middle of the bridge over the Mun River. Officers from Rasi Salai Police Station and officers from Rasi Salai District Administration had to use a 10-wheel truck and 5 cars to stop the vehicle, covering a total distance of over 100 kilometers.

After that, the offi
cers negotiated for more than 50 minutes, but the driver refused to negotiate with the officers until the officers saw the driver trying to bring out a gas tank and a lighter and pretending to light a fire to end his life. The officers then smashed the car window and sprayed a fire extinguisher inside the car to prevent any unexpected incidents before the driver surrendered and got out of the car for the officers to arrest. The news team tried to ask about the cause, but the perpetrator refused to talk, only looking sad and refusing to talk to anyone.

The driver was identified as Mr. Suriya, aged 34, before officers took him to Rasi Salai Police Station to search his body and the vehicle. Initially, no illegal items were found. He was then taken for a urine test, which found no drugs in his system.

Later, the perpetrator’s wife traveled to the police station and revealed that she had argued with the perpetrator about family problems in the morning. Coupled with her husband’s accumulated stress, this caused
the incident. The officers therefore charged Mr. Suriya with reckless driving, no license plate, driving without regard for safety, and took him to be prosecuted according to the law.
