SRT signs contract to hire 20th SRT Governor

The State Railway of Thailand signed a contract to hire Mr. Wirat Amrapal, the 20th Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, along with 6 visions to drive the State Railway of Thailand towards becoming a regional rail transport hub.

The State Railway of Thailand held a contract signing ceremony for the new Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, with Mr. Chirut Wisanjit, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Railway of Thailand, signing the contract to officially hire Mr. Veerit Amrapal to hold the position of the 20th Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, in accordance with the Cabinet resolution on 17 September. Senior executives and State Railway of Thailand employees gave a warm welcome.

On this occasion, Mr. Chirut expressed his congratulations and gave a policy for operations, stating the importance of implementing the railway rehabilitation plan as resolved by the State Enterprise Policy Committee (SOE) to achieve tangible results, as well as aiming to drive infrastructure invest
ment to be completed according to the plan in order to increase the efficiency of the rail transport system to become the main transport system of the country that is efficient, convenient, fast and safe.

Mr. Wirit said after signing the employment contract that he is ready to start performing his duties as the governor of the State Railway of Thailand immediately because he is well aware of the importance of the role and mission of the State Railway of Thailand as the country’s largest state-owned transportation enterprise. Currently, the State Railway of Thailand has urgent missions in many areas, especially in continuing and starting new work in accordance with the policies of the Ministry of Transport and the government to drive investment projects in rail transport infrastructure systems to completion according to plan, such as the dual-track railway construction project, Phase 1, 4 projects, and Phase 2, 6 routes, the new dual-track railway project, the Thai-Chinese high-speed railway project, Phase 1,
Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima section, and the Thai-Chinese high-speed railway project, Phase 2, Nakhon Ratchasima-Nong Khai section.

As well as focusing on developing the Thai rail industry to grow continuously, along with expanding the capacity of rail transportation to quickly become the center of rail transportation in the ASEAN region under the operational framework towards the vision of ‘Increasing opportunities, increasing value, reducing the burden of the government, developing personnel’ in 6 areas: 1. Operating to increase income 2. Developing services 3. Reducing expenses 4. Managing personnel 5. Supporting, coordinating, following up and expediting important infrastructure projects according to government policy and 6. Implementing environmental and social projects.

In addition, we will give importance to meeting and discussing with the railway staff and the State Railway of Thailand Labor Union to listen to their opinions and apply them to our joint work, as well as take care of various welfare asp
ects for the railway staff to build morale in performing their duties, both in the central and regional areas, in order to use all information and opinions from the railway staff to continue the work for maximum efficiency.

Mr. Wirit concluded by saying that as the 20th Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, he is ready to drive the railway mission to its full potential in order to increase the efficiency of Thailand’s rail transport to compete with other countries, including being a key cog in driving the economy at both the top and grassroots levels, as well as improving the quality of life in transportation for all Thai people.
