Spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior reveals that ‘Anutin’ has ordered state-owned electricity and waterworks enterprises under the Ministry of Interior to implement advanced relief measures to help people in flooded areas.
Ms. Traisuree Traisaranakul, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, said that agencies under the Ministry of Interior have mobilized forces from all channels to help people in the flood-stricken areas of the North and upper Northeast. Most recently, today (September 14, 2024), while visiting Nong Khai Province to provide assistance, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has issued an order to state enterprises under the Ministry of Interior that are responsible for public utilities and are close to the people’s lives, namely the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA), to prepare a set of measures to help, provide relief, and rehabilitate people in all areas affected by the flood.

ered the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and the Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) to consider measures to help the people, such as relaxing electricity bills for electricity users affected by floods. If this is to be done, what will the procedure be? It should be considered the highest level or special level of assistance, and he will report to the Cabinet about the assistance from the Ministry of Interior,’ said Ms. Traisulee.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Interior said that Mr. Anutin is still concerned about the safety of the public using public utilities during the flood, especially electricity. If not careful, the infrastructure and transmission systems may be damaged and may be dangerous to the lives of users. Therefore, he has instructed the Electricity Authority and the Waterworks Authority to send personnel to repair the systems affected by the flood to be stable before returning the power.
