“Somchai” suggests the Election Commission to count new votes for senators and check their qualifications.

Somchai” suggests the EC to count the votes for the new senators and check their qualifications and disqualifications, indicating that there is a lot of evidence of collusion and vote rigging. He believes that the announcement of the certification is delayed to build confidence, rather than moving forward. If there is corruption, it may be prosecuted like the EC in the past.

Mr. Somchai Saengka, Senator and member of the Senate Human Rights Committee, said about the election of senators that the committee has been following up on the issue of voting where there were problems, such as in Buriram Province, where it was clear that there were many people who did not vote for themselves, in the form of collusion and non-rigging of votes, and in Trang Province, there was likely vote rigging. As for the clear evidence, it is video recordings and photos and samples of ballots showing collusion and vote buying in Khukhan District, Si Sa Ket Province, before the district-level election, which the people sent evidence
to the committee.

Mr. Somchai said that in addition, he will follow up on the use of the EC’s power and duties, which are very questionable regarding the blocking of votes. He has called for the EC to recount the votes, similar to the recount of votes in the election of the senators in Bang Khen District. Currently, someone has filed a complaint and submitted it to the Supreme Court, both regarding the voting and the secret vote counting, collusion, and blocking of votes, which the court dismissed the complaint, but the court told the petitioner to file a complaint with the EC according to the law. He believes that this issue risks breaking the law because the EC has a duty to make the election honest and fair. If the EC recounts the votes, they will see a set of ballots with the same numbers. A source who is a national candidate confirmed that cheat sheets were inserted into the election and blocked votes like this using a computer calculation system and distributed to each voter. He does not know how they
were distributed.

Mr. Somchai said that the EC looked at the law and saw that there was no transparency at the moment. The first solution is to recount the votes in front of the media and broadcast them live. Then we will see the arrangement of the ballots as we saw. It can be assumed that there was a process of blocking the vote. When it is assumed, the EC has the right to decide that the election was dishonest and order a new election, which will not take long.

And secondly, the secretary announced that they will re-examine the qualifications and experience of 200 and 100 people. I said that was not possible and that I think that 48,117 people need to be re-examined because I think that those who passed the district level lack qualifications and have prohibited characteristics, such as being other government officials, being an associate judge, being a village health volunteer, being a media person with shares in the media, and having qualifications that do not match their experience. There were applicati
ons that did not match the group. I did not look down on any profession, such as housekeepers or security guards, but they had to apply to the correct group, not applying across groups.

Mr. Somchai said that the best thing for the EC to do is to delay the announcement of the certification. There is no law in the constitution that requires the EC to hasten the announcement. The Senate has not specified a time frame. If it is delayed any longer to investigate, it is believed that it will lose credibility because there are still many doubts. If the EC proceeds without investigating and corruption occurs, the EC has the right to be prosecuted. He also does not want the same incidents as the ECs of the past to happen again.

“You solve the problem by recounting the votes first. Hurry up and do it in the national round because there is still time and the examination of disqualifications must be done all over the country. And let you decide whether to void this election and see that it must be re-elected or see tha
t it is correct, go ahead and then go and take it later. It is up to you,” said Mr. Somchai.-315.-Thai News Agency
