Off-season longan brings profit to Ba Ria – Vung Tau orchardists

Miscellaneous

The southeastern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau’s Xuyen Moc district is at the peak of off-season longan harvest. The off-season harvest is sold at higher prices, ranging from 30,000-57,000 VND (1.18 – 2.24 USD) per kilogram, more than twice the regular season price. This year’s harvest yield is estimated to reach 10 tons per ha, giving orchardists an average profit of 300 million VND per ha (approximately 11,800 USD per ha). Despite the challenging weather, farmers are adopting strategies such as organic farming, manure use, and off-season flowering to ensure a stable income.
