The police spent about 10 minutes reenacting the crime, starting from the first spot inside the house. While he was drinking alcohol with his wife, he saw his wife transform into a ‘ghost’ and a ‘krasue’. In fear, he quickly grabbed the machete and stabbed her countless times. He saw the head of his wife transform into that of a male ghost, so he used the same knife to cut her throat repeatedly until it was severed from her body. He then dragged her body to the side of the house and threw the knife in her body several more times to make sure the ghost had left. However, he still saw the ghost had not left her body, so he wal
ked over to pick up the head and threw it beside the house, near the chicken coop, about 20 meters away from the house, and left the knife there at the house in Tambon Chai Chumphon, Amphoe Laplae, Uttaradit Province.
Mr. Narin admitted that after the incident, he saw many people coming to the house, so he ran into his neighbor’s barn and car until everyone had left the house. He then returned to change his blood-stained shirt, until he was arrested by the police. Throughout the reenactment of the confession, the suspect kept repeating incoherently, saying “a ghost-a ghost possessing a wife.”
From asking neighbors, it was said that the couple drank alcohol often and regularly used drugs. During the incident, the couple were drinking alcohol and argued. The husband physically abused his wife. The neighbors heard the last thing the woman said was… she couldn’t breathe… and then went quiet… It is believed that the man probably strangled the woman until she stopped breathing before using a machete to cut
off her neck and head.
Relatives of both the deceased and the suspect who came to watch the suspect reenact the crime scene reported that the suspect was normally a calm person who did not talk much. However, recently, he was found to be delirious, similar to someone who had taken drugs and was hallucinating from the drugs. In addition, he drank more alcohol, so it is believed that this was the reason for killing his wife.
