Flooding in Wang Saem Subdistrict, Makham District, Chanthaburi Province for 5 days has caused durian trees to gradually die in several rai. Government agencies are asked to provide assistance and find a way to drain the water faster.

Mr. Boon-yu, 62, a durian orchard owner who was affected by flooding in Wang Saem Subdistrict, Makham District, Chanthaburi Province for 5 days, said that durian trees aged 1-4 years old have yellow leaves and are gradually dying. As for durian trees aged 5 years and older, they may face fungal diseases, root rot, and trunk rot. Orchard owners must urgently find knowledge to rehabilitate the remaining durian trees. It is estimated that 60-80 trees were damaged in total. Normally, heavy rain falls on July 27-28 and the water is drained within 1-2 days, but this year, the water drained slowly and at intervals, causing the durian trees to soak in water for up to 5 days. In the future, it has not yet been decided whether to replant or switch to water-resistant crops. After this, i
t is expected that relevant agencies will come to survey the damage, provide assistance, and find a solution to drain water in the area to flow into the Chanthaburi River faster than this time.

It has been reported that the water level in the Chanthaburi River, at the intersection of Makham District and the Nam Rak Ko Sar Bridge, has dropped by more than 2 meters. Villagers along both sides of the canal have been gradually surveying the damage. It is expected that in about a week, the damage to the durian trees will be more clearly visible
