Expedite identity verification of Chinese woman’s body to prepare case for arrest warrant

Miscellaneous

Police are urgently verifying the identity of a woman found in a deserted area by the roadside to determine if she is a missing Chinese woman, in order to gather evidence to issue an arrest warrant for the perpetrator, and are coordinating with the Chinese Embassy to help track down the suspect for questioning.

The discovery of a body in a deserted forest on the side of the road near a village in Tambon Bang Phra, Amphoe Mueang, Chachoengsao Province yesterday (July 13), the police suspect that it may be Ms. Yan, a Chinese woman who went missing and was murdered by a Chinese man. This is because an inspection of the area found body parts and traces of plastic surgery that matched Ms. Yan’s history of plastic surgery, including CCTV evidence that showed the route that Mr. Qing Yan, the suspect, drove around and parked before fleeing the country on July 3.

The decomposed condition of the body allowed the officers to confirm whether it was Ms. Yan’s or not. Therefore, it was necessary to send the body to the
Police General Hospital’s forensic department to examine genetics or DNA, compare it with relatives and blood stains collected from the car the suspect rented, including blood stains in the house in the Sukhumvit area, where blood stains were found on water and a mattress. Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, revealed that it may take about 2 days to verify the identity of the person before the results are used to support the investigation case of the Bang Rak Police Station to issue an arrest warrant for the perpetrator.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Supichai Limsiwawong, Commander of the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Science Institute, revealed that the process of genetic testing to confirm the identity of a person could not be concluded today because the condition of the body found in Chachoengsao Province was quite decomposed. It is necessary to find the most complete piece of flesh and the femur bone marrow of the deceased to compare with the DNA of the missing
person’s relatives to see if it matches or not. The examination will be expedited as soon as possible. It is expected that the results will be known within 1 week. However, the closest thing that can be confirmed at this time is the body parts and traces of surgical procedures on the body that match the missing person. In this regard, the Commander of the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Science Institute believes that if it is necessary to use it to support the arrest warrant, it can be used initially, but it depends on the consideration of the investigator responsible for the case.

The motive for the police murder is still being investigated in two ways: love affair and wanting to steal money, because evidence shows the couple holding hands, including using the Chinese woman’s phone to transfer money to buy things in Macau. Initially, the police have coordinated with the embassy to track down the person for questioning while collecting evidence to issue an arrest warrant.

In addition, there is a news re
port from a senior police officer in the Royal Thai Police Office revealing to the Thai News Agency’s crime news team that recently, officials from the Chinese Embassy have met with the Superintendent of Bang Rak Police Station to coordinate information and request that the investigation officer of Bang Rak Police Station, the owner of the case file, issue a report on the investigation results of the case. The embassy will forward the investigation report to the Chinese police to investigate and track down the suspect for prosecution. The relatives of the deceased traveled to Thailand 3 days ago and are currently under the care of the embassy. Yesterday (July 13), the relatives of the deceased filed a complaint and stated their intention to prosecute the Chinese male suspect with the Chinese Embassy in Thailand.

The senior police officer also stated that the Chinese government is very serious about cases of Chinese people doing things to Chinese people in Thailand. In this case, the Chinese government wants
to prosecute their people with the highest penalty, which could be as high as the death penalty.
