Miscellaneous

Bangkok, The Bangkok governor does not object to the appointment of a special committee to consider the draft budget for Bangkok 2025 from outsiders, but it must be approved by the Bangkok Council.

Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, said during the meeting of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, 3rd Ordinary Session (5th time) of the year 2567, which was attended by members of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMA), executives of Bangkok and relevant agencies at the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, Airavat Development Building, Bangkok City Hall 2, Din Daeng.

The Bangkok governor said today is the submission of the annual budget for the year 68, approximately 90 billion baht, in which the principle of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is that there will be no borrowing of money, but the money will be used equal to the estimated income of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration may spend more than the budget because we have expenses for the BTS Skytrain, w
hich is an ongoing expense.

This year’s budget request will focus on promoting people’s quality of life at the capillary level. It can be seen that we have allocated a budget of over 20 billion baht to district offices because the lives of our fellow citizens are primarily related to the district offices in their areas, such as flooding, electricity, lighting, education, public health, and the environment. In addition, there have been proposals for budgets for large-scale projects in Bangkok, such as the construction of drainage tunnels, dams, and wastewater treatment plants, which are requests for budgets for ongoing projects.

For the appointment of the special committee to consider the draft budget of Bangkok in 2025, which will propose outsiders who have the knowledge and ability to consider the budget and have experience in investigating corruption to be on the committee, the executives of Bangkok are the ones being investigated. Therefore, if Bangkok complies with the rules, regulations and regulations
correctly and there is no corruption, it is ready to be investigated and does not object to the appointment of this committee. However, according to the procedure, it must be a matter for the Bangkok Council to agree on. The budget allocation must be based on the needs of the people, which is mainly reflected through the members of the Bangkok Council (BKK) in presenting the needs of the people to the budget interpretation. Cooperation between the executives of Bangkok and the legislative branch must be transparent, based on the needs of the people. It is good that all parties are aware of the need to investigate transparency together.
