Bangkok, Bangkok decorates the city to celebrate His Majesty the King’s birthday anniversary in 2567 with colorful orchids along Ratchadamnoen Avenue.
Mr. Ekwaranyu Amrapal, spokesman of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, revealed that on the occasion of the auspicious birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on 28 July 2024 and the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother on 12 August 2024, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, through the Environment Department, has decorated the city with fresh flowers, yellow-toned flowers and ornamental plants and various plants, totaling more than 2 million plants, as well as more than 400,000 colorful orchids on Ratchadamnoen Road, Phan Fa Lilat Bridge, Phlap Phla Maha Jessada Bodin Square, Democracy Monument, the island in front of the Rattanakosin Hotel and surrounding areas, in preparation for the royal procession on the auspicious occasion of the 6th cycle birthday anniversary on 28 July 2024.
The plants selected for decoration include more than 420,000 bunches of Mokara orchids, mixed-color Dendrobium orchids, mixed-color Dendrobium orchids, more than 15,000 ornamental plants, various sizes of temperate plants, yellow-colored trumpet trees such as Chitlada orange leaves, Sao Chiang Mai girl, golden tip or tree, Petchploy tree, and Dep tree, more than 150,000 pots, including more than 90 pots of beautifully shaped tea leaves to create beauty befitting His Majesty along the royal procession route.
Important places such as Bangkok City Hall, Giant Swing, and important roads have also been decorated to be beautiful to celebrate the auspicious occasion and to show the loyalty of the Thai people. The public can take pictures of their impressions throughout July and August 2018.
