Ba Ria-Vung Tau specialised in cocoa trees

Miscellaneous

The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau is expanding cacao cultivation to meet growing demand. Cacao has been grown in the province for 20 years and is of such high quality that it is ranked among the world’s 100 best. The province’s Chau Doc district alone has nearly 600 hectares of cacao trees. Thanks to the climate and soil, cacao trees in Chau Duc district have a high yield and good quality. All products made from these cacao beans have a special flavour. Due to favourable conditions, farmers in Chau Doc district have gradually switched from low-yield, low quality plants to cultivation of cacao trees. It is estimated that one hectare of cacao produces steady yields of 12-13 tonnes of fresh beans a year.
