A young Burmese man has been arrested for suspecting a taxi driver who tricked and brutally murdered him before dumping his body in a fish pond in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. The man has denied the charges, and police are not convinced by his statement, as evidence linking the murder to the murder was found in his room.

The case of the brutal murder of an older man with his hands tied behind his back and his body hidden in a fish pond with grass in an alley next to Ramathibodi Hospital, Samut Prakan Province, the deceased was identified as Mr. Meechai, aged 63, a taxi driver who picked up the suspect from Nonthaburi Province at approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 26.

The latest is that Bang Bua Thong Police Station officers in Nonthaburi Province arrested a suspect, a Burmese man named Mr. Sun, at a hut near the Buathong Thani Village. They also found the deceased’s yellow-green taxi and mobile phone in the hut.

Mr. Sun gave the taxi keys to the police and admitted that he was the taxi driver but did not comm
it the murder. A search of the house found a torn white shirt stained with blood and signs of a struggle, muddy pants, and the victim’s phone.

Checked the green-yellow taxi and found a green nylon rope, similar to the one the perpetrators used to tie the deceased’s hands, at the back of the car. It was collected as evidence and the car and Mr. Sun were taken to Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province.

At Bang Phli Police Station, Samut Prakan Province, Mr. Yot, his son, and Mrs. Rabiab, relatives of Mr. Meechai, the deceased, gave statements to police officers.

Mrs Rabiab said that at 9am yesterday (August 27), a man called her relative’s mobile phone to demand 20,000 baht or he would kill Mr Meechai. Then she heard a loud cry. At that time, Mr Meechai’s son did not believe him and did not report it to the police. Then in the afternoon, she heard the news that Mr Meechai had been brutally murdered.

Mr. Sun stated that the person who killed Mr. Meechai was Mr. Sees, a major drug dealer from Myanmar. On t
he night of the incident at around 11 pm, Mr. Sees had asked him to wait on the side of the road in Bang Bua Thong, saying that he had work for him to do. He went and waited as agreed. Then Mr. Sees got in a taxi with Mr. Meechai and told him that they would deliver drugs to Khlong Dan, Samut Prakan Province. However, on the way, Mr. Sees and Mr. Meechai had an argument about the drug money that Mr. Meechai owed Mr. Sees. Mr. Sees then used a knife to threaten Mr. Meechai to drive to the place where the body was found. Then Mr. Sees told him to drive the taxi to wait in Bang Bua Thong. After that, he did not know what happened.

While the authorities are still not convinced by Mr. Sun’s statement, as it contradicts evidence found at the scene and Mr. Sun’s residence, the authorities must wait for the results of the fingerprint examination on the deceased’s car and other evidence to determine if there were other perpetrators.
