Anusorn’ points out that it is time for the old senators to retire, leaving it to the EC to approve the new 200 senators so that the working mechanism of the senators can move forward.
Mr. Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, a party-list MP from the Pheu Thai Party, spoke about the discussion of the Senate meeting on July 8, which has an agenda to consider a motion by Mr. Somchai Saeng-ngarn, a Senator, to propose that the Senate set up a committee to study the self-selection of the new senators according to Article 107 of the Constitution, because the Election Commission has not yet announced the approval of the new senators and it is still during the first ordinary session of the year 2567. It is the right of the old 250 senators to think and act as they wish, but today the new senators have gone through the senator selection process. Whether they like it or not, agree or disagree, they must accept that this is the result and outcome of the rules set forth in the Constitution.
In fact, the 250 old senators took a group
photo to bid farewell to their positions and also said that they were ready to pass the baton to the new senators to take up their duties. Although the EC is facing a delay problem and has not yet set a date to announce the approval of the new senators because there have been 614 complaints, for the benefit of the political mechanism to move forward, it is believed that the EC will expedite the announcement of the results of the senators’ election so that the country will have a new senator to take up their duties, both in terms of their important roles in amending the constitution and in certifying those who will hold positions in independent organizations. If the new 200 senators can take up their duties quickly, the country and the people will benefit.
